Been in Dallas for two days and it’s already been a whirlwind. I’m sure you’ve heard about (if you haven’t experienced for yourself) this CRAZY weather we’re having. I left New York with the hopes of somewhat warmer weather. It’s actually COLDER here in Texas than it is at home in New York. The weather has put a bit of a snag in things but this town is Super Bowl READY! Everyone is so excited to have the Super Bowl here…..and as usual at the Super Bowl, i’ve met some incredible people and been to some great events. Here’s what’s happened so far!
On Tuesday, I was a little bit disappointed because the storm cancelled schools in Arlington, TX. I was supposed to conduct a Master Class at the Arlington Museum of Art with some juniors and seniors from the Arlington Independent School Districts. Unfortunately, because the schools were cancelled, the students couldn’t take part…but we’re going to try and re-schedule via skype next week (another great invention, by the way). On Tuesday evening, i was proud to attend a Super Bowl Art reception, also at the Museum, hosted by the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau. Despite the weather, we had a wonderful crowd and a lot of fun! I’m grateful to Mayor Richard Cluck and Jay Burress (President and CEO of the Arlington CVB) for hosting this event…and to Nancy Tice, the Museum’s President, for her hospitality. A big shout out also goes to our wonderful emcee, Brady Tinker! They all gave me a big Texas-sized welcome.
Last night, I was honored to be invited to attend a fantastic fundraiser in Irving, TX…hosted by NY Jet Ladainian Tomlinson and his lovely wife, Latorsha. The event benefited Ladainian’s charity called the Touching Lives Foundation, and it’s mission is “Fighting Childhood Obesity & It’s Impact on Quality of Education.” I t was a great event and i was proud to have one of my helmets auctioned to benefit the cause.
Later today, i’ll be hosting and art reception and signing at the Dallas Cowboys Pro Shop at the Galleria Mall….stay tuned!
