We recently heard from our friend Gabriel who sent us pictures of the college senior project he just completed. Best to let him give us his inspiration in his own words:
“Thank you for your interest in my work and choosing to blog about it! As a senior entering my last semester at The College of New Jersey, I drew inspiration for these pieces while reflecting upon my prior experience at this beloved place.
In an attempt to embody the pride, confidence, prestige, and humbleness each TCNJ student graduates with, I created the triptych. The first piece I created was the middle panel – Green Hall, an iconic image that fills any student or alumni with pride for their school. Next I worked to create the lion that is both majestic and encompasses the confidence I feel as a student soon to enter the “real world.” Finally, I created the self portrait. I hoped that my facial expression comes across as humble yet confident. Each panel is 6ft x 3ft done in charcoal.”
WE SAY: BRAVO GABRIEL! Thanks for sharing these wonderful works and good luck to you in the “real world!”
