On Thursday evening, Charles Fazzino hosted a fundraising event to kickoff the 2013 annual New Rochelle ArtsFest. The event benefited a wonderful local mental health advocacy organization called CHOICE. More than 80 people attended and listened to presentations by New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson and Deputy County Executive Kevin Plunkett.
Consumer Helping Others In a Caring Environment
Artworks created by clients of CHOICE during their weekly art group sessions were on display alongside some of Fazzino’s latest three-dimensional creations. Guests were treated to tours of Fazzino’s private studios. The event raised more than $25,000 for CHOICE’s programs. Executive Director Guy Fessenden gave a talk about what CHOICE is and does, and by the end, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
CHOICE is an organization that gives us hope for the human spirit and the generosity of human kindness. At CHOICE, the mentally ill and challenged come to a friendly place for a leg up, some support, and the direction to better themselves and their lives. CHOICE is peers helping peers, and this little corner of the world is a better place because of their efforts.
