We LOVE this guy. We were recently introduced to the artwork of Ben Heine and it was love at first sight. Hailing from Belgium, Ben has spent his career literally inventing revolutionary ways to look at the world and he’s just getting started. A free-spirit and a true renaissance man, Ben has dabbled in everything from illustration to teaching, activisim, political satire, watercolor painting, photography, and music. We especially love his “Pencil vs Camera” series. He began creating this collection in 2010 as a way to combine his talents in illustration and photography. The series, which blurs the lines between the two techniques, has evolved into a series of very clever yet sophisticated images with a language all their own.
Ben Heine’s Pencil vs Camera
“Pencil vs Camera represents an extension of the reality we’d like to see or we think should actually be there,” commented Charles Fazzino. “Ben’s images are just so cool! I love the mixing of two styles to essentially make a third. It’s experimental, unique, and has a wonderfully contemporary vibe.” Ben just completed an exhibition of Pencil vs Camera at Harbour City, Hong Kong’s biggest shopping mall. His exhibit titled “From Cocoa to Choc…Taking You Through the Journey of Love” was part of the annual Harbor City Chocolate Trail. It was a great success as evidenced by all of the press coverage and buzz surrounding the event. We are excited to see what’s next for this brilliant master of illustration and illusion!
